The John Cockerill Group’s mission, “Responding to the needs of our time”, focuses on crucial challenges such as sustainable development, the environment, climate and biodiversity. At the same time, the Group is committed to the well-being of its employees, social equity and a positive impact on society. It is in this context that the John Cockerill Group’s corporate philanthropy takes on its full meaning, being fully in line with the company’s ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) charter.

The John Cockerill Group’s corporate philanthropy is an essential component of its global strategy, integrating various aspects such as identity and positioning, business development, human resources and collaboration with local communities. The John Cockerill Foundation has been appointed to define, coordinate and develop this corporate philanthropy strategy.

Unlike sponsorship, corporate philanthropy does not require a return on investment, focusing on social and environmental impact. There are two types of support:

  • Financial contribution: to support projects directly.
  • Providing skills: by making the Group’s expertise and services available.

The Foundation’s actions fall within the framework of mixed philanthropy, combining financial investment and the contribution of skills. We leverage the Group’s talents and technologies to support tangible, local projects aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as reducing poverty and inequality, providing access to vital resources and education, and improving well-being and quality of life.

Véronique Sorlet, General Manager of the John Cockerill Foundation, underlines the importance of these initiatives: “Our actions aim to channel positive energies into developing innovative solutions that meet the needs of communities. The African proverb ‘Alone we go faster, together we go further’ perfectly illustrates the importance of the collective intelligence that the Foundation promotes.”

John Cockerill’s corporate philanthropy policy, rooted in a sustainable and inclusive vision, represents a fundamental pillar of its commitment to society. By cultivating solid partnerships and mobilising internal resources, the John Cockerill Foundation contributes to projects that have meaning and impact.
